Arkano uses AI solution to streamline processes for Minsur Mine

Problem Statement: One of the largest tin mines in the Western Hemisphere needed a new visual control process to replace human labor, thus creating a safer and more efficient process.

Solution: Arkano implemented an AI solution based on Microsoft Azure video analytics and Cognitive Services.

Outcome: This AI solution replaces the need for a manual process, lowering the margin of error, giving real-time information and alerts, and allowing employees to be trained for other more valuable tasks.

Minsur belongs to the Breca Group, a conglomerate that has been operating for more than a hundred years with 2,200 employees throughout Peru and Brazil.

Minsur operates one of the biggest tin mines in the Western Hemisphere and needed a new visual control process for its river effluents so they can replace having people using their sight to do the job. This means a safer and more efficient control process and helps the client meet the strict standards of sustainability and safety of world-class mines.

After using it for tin extraction, the water is purified through a treatment process, which generates white foam that has to be monitored and alerts put in place when foam levels are over a certain threshold. Arkano implemented an AI solution based on Microsoft Azure video analytics and Cognitive Services. This solution runs at a point approximately 200 meters from the exit of the treatment area, replacing the manual process, freeing the people (day and night shifts) to be trained into other more valuable tasks, lowering the margin of error and giving real-time information and alerts.
