Nisum creates a new CMS to improve Government data reliability

Problem: The National Statistics Institute of Chile is a government entity that gathers and administers all important data for the country, from census of Population and Housing, to Economic Indicators of Employment and Consumer Price Index (IPC). They work with more than 2,000 people country-wide, leaving them with a massive amount of data that is published regularly over multiple systems, and no process to govern it all. There were often multiple entries of the same data, and the information that was available was had to find and as a result users chose other websites to find information.

Solution: Nisum teamed up with Sitefinity to develop a new CMS system and improve the website.

Outcome: The project was completed on time and under budget with a smooth running, error-free system containing one data repository which eliminates the confusion of duplicate information.

The National Statistics Institute of Chile is a government entity that gathers and administers all important data for the country.

From census of Population and Housing, to Economic Indicators of Employment and Consumer Price Index (IPC). They work with more than 2,000 people country-wide, leaving them with a massive amount of data that is published regularly over multiple systems, and no process to govern it all. With so many people contributing to the data bank, the Client was finding multiple links to the same information, no breadcrumb filters page-to-page for easy navigation, and no sitemap to guide users. It was difficult to determine what information was available and even more difficult to find it. Users often accessed other sites for the information they needed.

Nisum first needed to determine the Client’s needs and develop the user story. Based on their challenges, the solution needed to: be large enough to store all information through one, main directory; run consistent processes and methodologies, creating cohesion and providing access to business users to make necessary changes to data, and to stakeholders to upload or update the information; enable users to easily filter through information to find what they are searching for; promote collaboration between stakeholders and teams, maximizing efforts; and be extremely secure as it would house a massive amount of confidential government information.

Based on the Client’s requirements, a new CMS was identified as the best solution: Sitefinity, a leader in content management systems. In an effort to ensure a smooth transition and maximize benefits, Nisum teamed up with Sitefinity for development of the Client’s CMS, knowing they could deliver on each of the Client’s needs.

Nisum was able to deliver on the Client’s needs on-time and under budget. The Client was left with a smooth running, error-free system containing one data repository which eliminates the confusion of duplicate information. Having one repository delivers easy and straightforward navigation, streamlines data retrieval and ensures the new sitemap fulfills destinations requests.
